Eureka!

On Sunday evening I had an epiphany. Granted, it was work-related (I’m a management consultant), but bear with me – I promise there’s a point!

The epiphany was two-fold:

  1. I need to be more “agile” in my approach to work
  2. I “shouldn’t let perfect get in the way of good”

Then today in the shower, I had a similar revelation: I need to apply this same mindset to my blog.

For several months after I moved to Ireland, I postponed creating my blog because I couldn’t think of the perfect name. Then, once I decided on the name (or thought I did – I ended up changing it within an hour of setting up the site), I planned to “launch” my blog with a series of cleverly-written, chronologically-ordered, visually-appealing posts.

Needless to say, that didn’t happen. Instead, I’ve missed out on blogging all these amazing experiences because I was trying to write perfect posts, as opposed to just writing.

I know I’m supposed to identify a “target audience” and “build my brand” through “irresistible” blog posts – but life doesn’t always happen as neatly as I’d like, and neither will this blog. The important thing is that I’m capturing my experiences and thoughts before they’re forgotten.

So in that spirit, I’m going to try to write at least one new post a week about whatever comes to mind, past or present. That being said, if there’s anything you want to know or want me to write about, let me know in the comments!

In the meantime, here’s a cool picture of an Quin Abbey that I took a few weeks ago. It was built in the 1400s on the foundation of castle ruins, and the graveyard is still in use today.IMG_4921
